Philip Ingram MBE - Grey Hare Media
Founder and Editor of The COVID TelegraphPhilip Ingram MBE
Getting frustrated at the plethora of information being circulated abou the current pandemic, Philip had the idea of creating a site to bring as much reliable information as possible together in an informative way with advice from Security, Scientific and Business continuity specialists. Using the specilists from Grey Hare Media, he created The Covid Telegraph.
Slightly tongue in cheek in his Twitter profile, Philip refers to himself as an, “Ex spy, specialised in taking over countries, now writes and broadcasts about things intelligence, security, cyber, CBRNE (that is Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives), geopolitics, terror and more.
Philip Ingram MBE BSc MA GCLI is a widely published journalist, specialising in the security and intelligence arenas, who has built on a long and senior career in British Military Intelligence, with years of experience in all aspects of intelligence and security as well as strategic planning. He maintains a close interest in global events. For his sins, he is recognised as a chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear weapons expert having studied these subjects as part of his first degree and masters degree and spent many hours in what were lovingly referred to as “noddy suits” with respirator (not called a gas mask!) on. It probably helped that his late father ran a hospital laboratory where as a youth he spent many hours watching him work and flicking through his biological science publications.
Philip now runs his own media company, Grey Hare Media, that specialises in delivering informed content. Between the Army and this, he was a sales and marketing director for a large cast steel manufacturer, learning about business, and then managing director and editor in chief of a B2B Security focused print and online publication.
Whilst serving with the British Army for over 26 years and leaving as a Colonel, he was fortunate to command some fascinating units including 1 Military Intelligence Battalion. At the time it had unique intelligence feeds for an Army unit and had a specialist counterintelligence capability capable of identifying and monitoring hostile intelligence agencies and other organisations. It was during that time, as a military planner and intelligence officer, he was involved in operations across the globe and in particular was part of the team that brought peace to modern Bosnia and in the Southern Balkans, in Kosovo.
Philip is frequently asked to comment for BBC TV News and Radio, CNN, ABC, CBC, Euronews, Turkish TRT World TV, Russian RT.com, and has given content in the past to BBC Mundo, Japanese NTV and many many more. He has presented INTERPOL World TV in Singapore in 2015, 2017 and again in 2019. He has taken part in BBC Inside Out documentaries on online terrorist grooming, the expose of criminal activities on Craigslist and the murder of Jill Dando for ITV as well as several current affairs programmes on subjects such as the influence of drill music on street crime, the Novichok attack in Salisbury and other security and intelligence related subjects. He has provided expert commentary for The Daily Telegraph, The Times, the Daily Mail, the Sunday People and Sunday Mirror and many more, not just in the UK but across the globe, he is often sought out for expert opinion. You will not be surprised at him popping up on latest news commentary, on the radio or reading his comments in the papers.
Philip writes for many security related publications and provides much of the original content for the International Security Expo’s online magazines and has bylines in the mainstream press. He is a conference chairman and keynote speaker on security, terrorism, cyber, intelligence and mental health resilience. He has chaired or delivered keynote addresses at conferences with the MET Police, Home Office, ASIS CSOs, NHS Security professionals and many more. He is a recognised social media commentator by the MoD.
If that were not enough he retains other business interests in the armoured vehicle arena, specialist molecular detection and he is the Chairman of a specialist Cyber Intelligence company that tracks and monitors terrorist activity online and provides content support for a number of companies.
Philip gives a little back as a mentor with an Institute of Directors (IoD) organised scheme helping business students at a local university in their 3rd year and as a media advisor on the not-for-profit Terrorist Information New York Group (TINYg) board. He is a member of the said IoD, RUSI and the National Union of Journalists.
